Getting started

If you are planning on visiting our Gadabout Gardens this year, here is some information that should help make your day even more enjoyable!

Visiting hours
Most of our gardens are open on Sundays 13th and 20th July from 11am to 5pm. However, some are only open on one day and the actual hours may vary. Check each garden entry to be doubly sure when your desired garden is open to visitors.

Entrance donation
Each garden asks for a donation of £1. Please donate more if you wish to do so. All donations go to the Sussex Beacon.

Trails
As you may well want to visit more than one garden over the two Sundays, we have grouped them into ‘Trails’ to make things easier. As you can see from the map above, our trails are spread from Hove in the west as far as Seaford in the east – you can find information on each trail in the following pages.

Refreshments
Most of our gardens offer refreshments, from just hot and cold drinks to cakes and sandwiches. Check each garden entry for details, and read our recommendations on page six. Charges vary from garden to garden with all proceeds going to the Beacon.

Accessibility
Some of our gardens are wheelchair accessible while others have only small steps or tight spaces. Some, however, cannot offer easy disabled access. Check each garden entry for accessibility advice.

Getting around
Many of our trails are walkable and we would recommend getting around on foot where possible. Free parking is not always available (least of all in the city itself), so it makes sense to plan in advance. Check www.buses.co.uk for local bus networks.
