We are hugely grateful to all the Bear-Patrol team 2020 who walked over the O2 - a challenge called 'Up at the O2'.
The team of 20 raised over £4,000 for the Beacon,which will go towards vital medical equipment
for our community hospital and people living with HIV. Special thanks go out to Danny Dwyer for organising this fundraising event.Here’s what Alan Spink (who raised nearly £1,400 by himself), the Beacon’s own caseworker in the Heath Management Team had to say about it:
Walking over the O2 was more than I hoped it would be. As a group of 20 we all approached it as a team - supporting each other and aware of the cause we all support.
The climb itself is what the thing is really about, the sense of achievement making it to the top.
It's not the easiest walk, but its definitely fun. The views open up around you as you climb higher and higher. The Thames appears from behind tower blocks and warehouses. The water taxis rushing along the river.
You may not be at the highest point in Docklands, but the openness and views are amazing. Then the climb down which is a little more challenging but nonetheless fun. It’s an experience I would love to do again.
