The Sussex Beacon will be running a free online "Finding Peace" Mindfulness For Life Course, for people living with HIV, beginning next month. This evening course will run for 7 weeks, with each 90 minutes session starting at 18:30.
Open to anyone living with HIV in Sussex, the course offers a highly accessible, engaging and practical introduction to Mindfulness, developing skills and how to use them to improve wellbeing and resilience to stress. The sessions are taught online through Zoom by an experienced Mindfulness practitioner. Following a 1 hour induction class, there will be six 90-minutes sessions.
The course covers the following themes:
• Waking up to the life you have
• Gathering the scattered mind
• Relating differently to thoughts and worries
• Practising kindness
• Exploring what nourishes us
In addition to the weekly sessions, there will be practical exercises to do in your own time.
This course is suitable for people new to Mindfulness, as well as anyone who has tried Mindfulness apps or perhaps read a book and wants the structure of a course led by an experienced teacher. Once completed, you will be invited to join our continuing development sessions, held regularly at The Sussex Beacon and online.
