Christina has volunteered for 4 years at our St James’ Shop, which was her favourite charity shop in Brighton before becoming a volunteer.
Because of COVID-19 she has been unable to visit and volunteer in our shops. Christina decided to start making and donating masks...
One of our trustees, Fungai Murau, took part in a recorded video chat focused on the emotional wellbeing of women with HIV during COVID-19 – a tough time for many.

Scott Ford is a patient and service user with The Sussex Beacon, who has been the recipient of help and support from the team here since his HIV diagnosis 22 years ago at the age of just 25.
Scott has been a great supporter of the Beacon and has attended numerous events run by the team...

The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is “kindness”.
We’re all under extra pressure right now. Things are changing quickly and we may not always be in control. You may not always be kind to yourself.

Over the past few weeks we’ve received dozens of offers from local businesses to provide food after sharing an appeal for help on our charity’s Facebook page.
Food provided by local business has been pouring in to the Sussex Beacon this week as businesses and entrepreneurs react to our big ask for food stuffs.
Every donation we receive from our community makes a difference and helps us to continue providing support and care for people people facing the challenges of HIV.
We accept referrals for our Inpatient Unit from doctors, nurses, GPs, mental health teams and social services for people living in Brighton & Hove and East and West Sussex.
