The Sussex Beacon Relay returns for its fourth year at The Grand Brighton Half Marathon. Businesses and groups of friends take on the course as a team, completing 5k each to raise vital funds for people living with HIV.
We are thrilled that Neilson Holidays are returning to the event for 2019, entering not one, but three teams into the relay!
Neilson Holidays are celebrating 40 years since taking their first guests on holiday back in 1978! From small beginnings with just a handful of guests, they’ve come a long way, now offering activity-inclusive beach club holidays, sailing holidays and ski & board holidays across Europe.
The holiday company aim to inspire you to try something new. That’s why they are getting their staff involved in The Sussex Beacon relay, to try out a new challenge and introduce them to the world of running!
“Neilson Holidays signed up to The Sussex Beacon Relay to not only raise vital funds for a brilliant local cause, but we also saw the relay as a great opportunity to give our team a chance to be involved in a vibrant running event, which many never thought possible to experience before. By entering multiple teams in the relay Neilson are hoping to have a great team day out and introduce some of the team into running in a fun and competitive environment.” Says Alex at Neilson Holidays.
And the fun is not just limited to one day! The teams will be getting together weekly for training runs along Brighton’s seafront to motivate each other and prepare their teams for the competition ahead. Although their three teams will be up against each other to complete the relay in the fastest time, they will be working together to fundraise for people living with HIV. Every penny raised will help us continue offering care and support to people living with HIV when they need us most. This includes inpatient care provided by our dedicated doctors and nurses specialising in HIV and related illnesses, as well as health management support such as mindfulness, peer support and a women and families group.
The Sussex Beacon Relay is one of our favourite fundraising events. It inspires people to do something new and challenging, to work together with their peers and provides a fun opportunity for our supporters to both raise funds and awareness of our work.
