The Sussex Beacon has run another Peer Mentor Development Day, with participants travelling across Sussex to either receive refresher training or complete their mentoring development.
The session covered:
- HIV Knowledge Refresher
- Communication Skills
- Healthy Boundaries
- Mental Health & Wellbeing
Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, showing increased confidence in HIV knowledge and increased confidence in their ability to mentor.
With it being Mental Health Awareness Week (12th-18th May), it is timely to highlight the fact that peer mentoring is a particularly important part of our community services offer. By adopting a holistic approach to our service users’ needs, alongside our future clinical provision, The Sussex Beacon can continue to proudly support and care for people living with HIV.
